Adequate Water Capacity

How do we ensure that North Carolina has enough water capacity to meet the needs of its growing population?

The state’s economy and environment depend on an adequate supply of fresh water. However, North Carolina’s projected population increase make it likely there will be more water shortages and conflict among users. Despite a history of adequate precipitation, at present, the state is not well positioned to meet the future needs of users. Improving supply or becoming more water efficient is necessary to meet the diversity of water needs among the residential, industrial and commercial sectors.
