Successful alignment of industry and education for strengthened manufacturing workforce pipelines is achieved when business, education, and community leaders establish collective goals and commit to plans of action for achieving shared community and economic development strategies. Some examples of notable alignment projects and initiatives include:

In 2007 Chicago’s Manufacturing Renaissance Council led a multi-party team of public and private stakeholders in establishing the Austin Polytechnical Academy. APA is a nationally acclaimed public college and career prep high school with a mission to educate the next generation of leaders in all aspects of manufacturing (including skilled production, engineering, management, and company ownership). The City of Monroe and Union County launched a manufacturing awareness campaign funded by the private sector. The program encourages young people to consider manufacturing careers. In the first phase of the two-year program, the city brought all ten of the county’s high school principals to tour several manufacturing facilities in the area. I am already working with a group on this issue, and we plan to expand our efforts by collaborating with Lincoln County Schools, Local industries, and the Lincoln County Economic Development Association. Through the Lincoln County IMA, we have advised the school system on an Advanced Manufacturing curriculum that would close skill gaps and meet industry needs. The program will train Mechatronic operators in HS grades 9 - 12.

I am already working with a group on this issue, and we plan to expand our efforts by Lothar H.: My company stared two Apprenticeship programs; a two years Nonwoven Machine Operator and a four years Mechatronic Technician. Both together with the local Community Collage

I am already working with a group on this issue, and we plan to expand our efforts by collaborating with Lincoln County Schools, Local industries, and the Lincoln County Economic Development Association. I am already working with a group on this issue, and we plan to expand our efforts by the IMA (Lincoln County Industrial Manager's Association) through working with the school Superintendent, administration and county school principles. With these discussions manufacturing and education can establish the needs and define programs to provide students a career path after high school graduation in manufacturing.

I am already working with a group on this issue, and we plan to expand our efforts by placing more emphasis and professional staff time from the Lincoln Economic Development Association to facilitate alignment of the Lincoln County Schools and the needs identified by the local Industrial Managers Association.

I am already working with a group on this issue, and we plan to expand our efforts by working together with local manufacturers, school systems, comm colleges and economic dev. We are developing programs to get kids excited about manufacturing. The programs start with introductions to manufacturing in elementary school, progress to foundations of STEM education in middle school and a full curriculum for manufacturing in high school.
