Food-Choice Education/ Mobile Dentistry

We need to better educate our students and communities about healthy eating and the implications of over-consumption of sugars and other potentially destructive ingredients. We can do this through implementing school-wide programs to cut down on the consumption of sugary drinks (pledges, competitions, etc.), offering less/alternative options for ice creams, desserts, cookies, and other drinks and desserts, and creating community-wide awareness of how the food and drinks you consume play a significant role in your oral health, but consequently other areas of your health and well-being. Working in a county in which the mobile dentist serves a very large part of the school’s population, we have both an obligation and an opportunity to be sure that students and their families understand the implications of the decision that are made about food.
